FREDA LINE
ARTIST

Freda Line

North-East Hampshire artist Freda specialises in skies, seas and landscapes – whether dramatic or sublime. She uses layers of subtle colour to capture the light, emphasise mood and generate emotion.

‘I always start with multiple sketches of a location and then often take forward my ideas with charcoal trying to capture the rhythm and sense of place. The options are then either to work on small, multiple, paper pieces or on large slowly worked-up acrylic paintings. Photo-realism is not my style – I think that’s what we have cameras for. Interpretation, impressions and feelings drive my work.’

Freda has studied with Alison Orchard, Christopher Baker and Paul Wadsworth amongst others. Freda is always looking to move forward and develop so that she can bring the joy and excitement of landscape into people’s homes. She has recently worked with renowned artist Debbie Loane and hopes you will be excited by new work.

For lovers of seas and skies

My latest work!

Fresh, fun and free!

This is my new mantra. I was aware my work was taking my in new directions, so I've jumped right in and gone for different media and a really loose free approach. I hope you're as excited as I am.

Works on paper, price on application.

Recent work - the South Downs

Driving, walking and working in the middle of the South Downs has challenged me to look inland - with only occasional glimpses of the sea!

The age and history; the beauty of course, but also the surprises and simple joys.

Recent work- Coastal gems

The sea always calls, but after the wide skies, sands and sea at West Wittering, it was time to explore and interpret other parts of our wonderful coast.

Inspired by West Wittering

My time in West Wittering still informs and inspires my work.

Mountains

Scotland is my homeland, so the mountains of the Lakes, Wales and elsewhere always call to me.

Charcoal and other works on paper

Both large and small scale works - charcoal, pastel and ink.
